Make sure your ATM signage is up to date this October 2106 as Mastercard rolls out its global rebrand.
For the first time in 20 years, Mastercard has undergone a rebrand. One of the most universally recognised brands, it’s currently used on more than two billion plastic cards worldwide, and appears across ATMs, print and digital channels.
Mastercard’s new brand artwork is uploaded to ICL ATM’s software systems. We’re production ready and can quickly ship replacement ATM signage, fascias and decals to help customers stay in tune with one of the world’s best known brands.
The new visual identity keeps the familiar two overlapping circles – the “pure” form of the brand but aims to bring it into the “digital” age and optimise it for on-screen use. The guidelines for Mastercard’s new brand can be viewed at: https://brand.mastercard.com/brandcenter/mastercard-brand-mark.html
G4S, the world’s biggest security company, is selling its cash machine engineering business to the technology giant IBM.
Around 380 people including cash machine engineers and support staff will transfer to IBM in a move aimed at improving the technology for ATM owners, which include banks and retailers.
The business generates around £23m of revenue a year across 42 different sites in the UK, writes Gill Plimmer
IBM is expected to be able to save costs and improve services by using its remote diagnostics technology to fix the machines, sparing the engineer the need to visit the ATM in some cases, sources close to the negotiations said.
G4S will continue to deliver cash in its armoured blue vans to 6,000 ATMs in Britain, as well as providing cash and note handling devices in individual businesses.
Analysts estimate the sale to IBM to be worth under £50m.
Stephen Rawlinson, analyst at Applied Value, said:
Graham Levinsohn, the European chief executive, has spoken of G4S’s ambitions in serving ATMs even in May of this year as banks pull out but my guess is G4S does not have the know how to do the IT.
Hence the focus on fingers and thumbs cash counting and transportation leaving IBM to do the clever bits that need IT knowledge.
Both G4S and IBM declined to comment.
